Here at Driftless Academy our striking program and classes take an integrative approach to the primary stand up fighting styles. We lay the foundation with the footwork, movement and punching of Western Boxing, which is fused with the high paced offensive techniques of Dutch Kickboxing. Finally, we incorporate the most effective striking art in Muay Thai- utilizing the clinch, knees, elbows, and kicks to complete a comprehensive fighting style. We offer classes specific to each if you have a particular focus!

  • BOXING

    Punching and footwork only here, however you’ll learn other important tools to maneuver such as slipping, rolling, angles and feints to further advance your techniques and combinations. Jumping rope with lots of ladder work will likely improve your agility, balance and coordination as you progress with the sweet science.

  • Kickboxing

    You’ll take the concepts from boxing and really start implementing them here. A style with constant forward pressure with a lot of hand and leg combinations. Dutch Kickboxing lends itself to being fast paced and dynamic. We’ll being doing lots of core and speed work. Partner drills with shin guards will often follow. Considering the high volume and intensity, if you’re looking to get in shape, this style will do it.

  • Muay Thai

    Muay Thai, translated into English as “Thai Boxing” is the national sport of Thailand. Muay Thai, originally derived as a combat art may be the BEST for self defense! From close to long range, we’ll put it all together with traditional techniques and an emphasis on power. You’ll be utilizing elbows, knees and kicks with basic punches to set everything up. Classes will consist of hard bag work with lots of repetition, Thai pads, partner drills, clinch work and much more!
